Denis Vlieghe

Denis is a forward-thinking entrepreneur, architect, designer, researcher, and lecturer.

He has practiced, taught, and been exhibited internationally. He has worked with several renowned design practices such as Grimshaw, Shigeru Ban, Endo Shuhei, Robofold, and participated in various competition entries such as the winning design of the Guangzhou Culture Center.

During his time at Grimshaw, Denis led their London computational design group, developing their in-house systems and using innovative methodologies as catalyst to bring projects to the company. He was also computational design lead for Tirana masterplan, and envelope package lead for Oman Botanic Garden’s Northern biome project.

His strength resides in his ability to combine exceptional design skills with in-depth technical knowledge of software, hardware and fabrication methods, with applications in a wide range of projects of all scales.

Denis is also active in academia, as he believes a balance of both research and practice foster innovation and progress. He is associate lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, teaches Tectonic Grounds at the University of Melbourne, Aditnalta visiting school at the Architectural Association, and interactive design at the Bartlett for Unit9
